Here is this week’s pick for our “Good Food in Action” volunteer opportunity:

Time Commitment: Time slots available everyday from today until Thanksgiving.
Today more and more of the people who come through our doors represent a new demographic. Displaced by these hard times, many formerly middle class families now find themselves in the line for Soup Kitchens and Pantry’s. So this year we celebrate
“Good Food for Hard Times”
As we do all year long, on Thanksgiving we try to not just fill bellies, but build lives; great nutritious (and delicious) food is a tool to empower people to change their circumstances. Along with our vocational, educational and Healing Arts programs that help change lives every day, our model of the “Healthy Community Food Program ~ Healthy for our People, Healthy for our Planet” is about our families building a healthy life and our programs being good neighbors and good environmental citizens.
On Thanksgiving, prepared by Chef Michael Ennes and the Broadway Community Food Team, and served by our Community Volunteers, we feature food from around the World.
Chef Michael Ennes needs culinary professionals to help him execute his incredible Thanksgiving Menu including:
ó 6 Appetizers (including homemade pâté) ó 3 Soups (Including Clam Chowder & Chicken Gumbo) ó Roast Turkey Three Ways* (Plus Turkey Burritos!) ó6 additional Main Courses (including Vegetable Lasagna) ó a dozen Side Dishes ó vegetarian specials ó & (donated by our community) many, many Pies ó
