Hello CulinaryCorps alumni and supporters,
As many of you know, it takes a truckload of equipment, a flood of ingenuity and a whole lot of propane to create an outdoor pop-up kitchen classroom. Our soon-to-pop Camp Sunshine cooking education center is no exception. Listed below is the equipment and education materials integral to our “World of Flavors” curriculum that we will be launching for the camp’s oncology session from August 11th-16th. (Bet you can guess some of the recipes we’ll be making from our book and equipment choices!)
Our pop-up kitchen will cost us approximately $3,500 to create. All items that we purchase will stay on site at Camp Sunshine for use after our departure and of course, during our return trip(s) in 2014 and beyond.
A donation of as little as $5 could help us put a wooden spoon in a camper’s hand to stir summer corn and black bean salsa.
A $20 donation could help a parent learn how to use sprouted grains as well as wield a pizza peel.
A $35 donation will sponsor an entire family in our super-silly (and super-messy) Family Foodie Olympics.
And a $65 donation would provide us with a stove for a team of campers to use during our Top Chef Sunshine Challenge. (We can’t give away the secret ingredient but you just may have had your fill of these noodles in college.)
Any amount, big or small, will help put a pan in a camper’s hand and create a warm and lasting kitchen memory in the process. Please donate your contribution online at our JustGiving donation portal. And thank you for helping us to raise the (pizza) dough while raising spirits too.
With gratitude,
The 2013 CulinaryCorps Team
ps: A very special thanks ChefWear for once again donating an important part of our kitchen kit — our chef coats!
